Why do I need an ultrasound?
An ultrasound will determine that you have an intrauterine pregnancy, it will measure the heartrate and it will provide you with an accurate gestational age. This is important no matter which option you pursue for your pregnancy.
Does it hurt?
No, there is no pain involved in the procedure. The nurse will place a gel across your abdomen and use a gentle probe to scan the top of the abdomen.
How long does it take?
Normally, the procedure is about 10 minutes long.
